Enteral feeding tubes deliver nutrition, fluids and medication directly to a patient’s stomach or small bowel via the oesophagus. They may be used for short-term or long-term nutrition, depending on the needs of the patient.

Course Content

Enteral feeding tubes deliver nutrition, fluids and medication directly to a patient’s stomach or small bowel via the oesophagus. They may be used for short-term or long-term nutrition, depending on the needs of the patient. Enteral feeding tubes may also be beneficial in providing access to the GI tract for the purpose of evacuation of air or fluid from the GI tract (commonly seen in surgical or critically ill patients).
