The Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency - AHPRA is the organisation responsible for implementation of the Accreditation Scheme and National Registration across Australia. This means that they approve study programs and regulate 16 professions.

According to AHPRAs 2021/2022 annual report, 18,710 notifications were made about 14,313 health practitioners (throughout all of Australia, this is only 1.7% of the registered health workforce)– the National Boards and AHPRA managed 10,803 of those notifications.

Over 60% of these notifications resulted in a National Board deciding that no further regulatory action was required, as steps may have already been put in place by the practitioner or their employer.

The aim of this webinar is to provide you an understanding of the notification process that can be made against a practitioner. In this webinar we will explore the AHPRA complaints process. The different complaints types that can be made against a practitioner will be reviewed.

The possible outcomes for the practitioner from a notification being made will be discussed. The presenter will also discuss risk controls that can be implemented to prevent a complaint happening in the first place.
